COURTESAN CHINOISERIE TILES

This was a very interesting project for me.  The client called me after seeing some press.  He had recently bought what was once a school for reformed courtesens in Venice, and wanted to commission traditional Chinoiserie tiles with a narrative to go behind the bath.  After much research, I realised that actually painting onto tiles wouldn't suit (at least not without learning a very different and specialist skill) I painted this design onto heavy weight paper, which I then drove to the north of England to have scanned and subsequently fired onto tiles.  Another challenge with a beautiful solution!
